Check out Sandi Thom’s version of #GunsNRoses November Rain @Sandi_Thom. We love it! What’s your fave rock cover version?

Hello there!

As mentioned during a show a few weeks ago, I’ve really enjoyed listening to Sandi Thom’s version of a Guns ‘N’ Roses classic, taken from her album called ‘The Covers Collection’. It’s an album crammed full of her interpretations of some of the greatest rock classics; including Heart’s ‘Alone’, ‘Times Like These’ by the Foo Fighters, ‘Black Velvet’ by Alannah Myles, Aerosmith’s ‘Dream On’ and Led Zeppelin’s ‘The Rain Song’, to name but a few.

This got me thinking; it’s been a good while since I put together a Classic Rock Show ‘Cover Versions’ Special. When these have been aired these in the past, a good few surprises have been heard amongst those that are perhaps more familiar to our ears. Each show has always gone down a storm.

I’m putting on another of those ‘Covers’ show for you on Thursday, February 13th at 7pm.

So, tell me, what are your fave rock cover versions? Add them to the comment box below and if I’ve got the track available, it’ll be put in the pot for Thursday’s show.

Cheers!

MJx

PS: Sandi Thom begins her 2014 World Tour in April. For more information, click here. I’ll be interviewing Sandi ahead of the tour – more details on that next month.

What’s it gonna take to tickle your fancy on Thursday’s show? We’ve got John McCoy joining us for starters! #ClassicRock

Hello mutants!

If you’ve been otherwise indisposed – perhaps you’re still drowning your sorrows after the Ashes whitewash – you may not have picked up on the news that John McCoy will be my studio guest this Thursday at 7pm. John is a bass player, record producer and former member of bands such as Gillan, Zzebra, Samson, Atomic Rooster, GMT and Mammoth to name but a few.

Three hours (it’ll quite probably end up being more!) of some rather splendid music will be played, of which some will be chosen by the man himself.

But it doesn’t end there; we’re opening the ‘Request-line’ again and if you’d like to be in with a chance of having something you’d like played on the radio, then there are a couple of ways of letting us know:

  1. Add a comment to this post
  2. Tweet your request @classicrockshow

The ‘Request-line’ will be open until 10pm (GMT) Monday, January 27.

Don’t forget also that we will be holding The Classic Rock Show ‘Roll Call’ during the show at 9pm (GMT). It’s your opportunity to say hello to John & I and we give you a shout-out in return. That’s as complicated as the show gets. Nothin’ fancy, just great music and a lorra, lorra laffs!

Looking forward to your company this Thursday at 7pm. Facebook event link here.

We’re both raring to go. Here’s what John has to say about it.

Cheers!

Thanks for an amazing 2013. Here’s to 2014!!

Hello there.

That’s another year gone by, huh?!

We hope you’ve enjoyed partying with us throughout the year on a Thursday night. We’ve most certainly enjoyed playing what you wanted to hear.

Without you lot tuning in each and every week and spreading the word we would be nothing. You’ve been absolutely fanf*kintastic!

On behalf of Bex and myself, thanks for an amazing 2013 & here’s to an even better 2014 🙂

Cheers!!

Here’s the Playlist from last nights show.

Once again, thank you for tuning in last night.

All the tracks this week were chosen by me – a bit of a rarity these days thanks to the popularity of the ‘request-line’ which normally opens on a Sunday. Due to the festivities we chose not to run one this week. Quite a mix of music which, by all accounts, went down well with all of you.

See you all again in the New Year.

‘Til the next time.

Cheers!
