#NEWS Here’s what we’ve got on ‘The Classic Rock Show’ Thursday 7pm BST 2pm EDT / 11am PDT

Here’s what we’ve got planned for ‘The Classic Rock Show’ on Thursday, 9th July from 7pm BST / 2pm EDT / 11am PDT:

The month of July seemed to be an exceptionally good time for album releases in years gone by, and we’re gonna play you some of the very best. Classic cuts from Alice Cooper, Dio, David Lee Roth, Slayer, Megadeth, Pat Benatar, Helix, Quiet Riot, Faster Pussycat, Ratt, Great White, Ace Frehley, Y&T and Heart will no doubt help to bring back some memories of you running down to the local record store to pick up a copy.

“What about our requests?”, I hear you say. Of course, this show wouldn’t be the same without your contributions, so we’ll also be hearing from Blackberry Smoke, Cozy Powell, Iron Maiden, Stone Sour, Massive, Nickelback, the new one from Shinedown, Dire Straits, Faith No More, Gary Moore, Def Leppard and Loverboy.

New music will primarily come from the ‘Blues’ end of the music spectrum. The amazing Will Johns (appearing at The Criterion Theatre, Coventry on July 11th and The Wheatsheaf, Oxford on July 13th) has a new single out ‘Last Page’, and we’ll be playing that for you. Plus we’ll play something from the new album by Jared James Nichols, who’s tour support for Glenn Hughes in September, and also hear a track from the new King King album ‘Searching For The Light’. They’ll be back out on tour in October.

As you see, we’ve quite a mix for you…well, we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Join in the chat and comment on our Facebook Group and on Twitter @classicrockshow during the ‘live’ broadcast from 7pm until 10pm BST. Listen links can be found on the Home page.

Cheers!

“I wanted to go back into the studio in Memphis with Jim to retain the same vibe that we captured on the first album,” says Joanne. “The new album is a combination of rock and blues. It’s an exciting collaboration, and hopefully my fans will love the more stripped down sound.”

We spoke to Joanne on the anniversary of the passing of Jimi Hendrix. Before we began our chat about ‘The Dirty Truth’ and her upcoming UK tour, we asked Joanne for her thoughts on the day we celebrate Jimi’s life and works.

INTERVIEW: @Bonafide’s Pontus Snibb talks to TCRS about ‘Wreck Of Blues’…

‘Wreck Of Blues’ is the latest solo album to be released by Bonafide’s Pontus Snibb. Recorded within three days with his father Håkan Nyberg on drums and taking care of business on the bass guitar is ex-Bonafide bass player and long-time friend, Micke Nilsson, the album has a very much stripped back and raw feel to it. Gentle and sometimes heavy nods towards blues alumni such as Peter Green, T-Bone Walker, Albert King can be heard.

On the day of its release, we spoke to Pontus Snibb who gave us, amongst other little snippets of information, a run down on how ‘Wreck Of Blues’ came about, how and where it was recorded and the blues guitarists that have influenced Pontus.
