Here’s what we’ve got planned for ‘The Classic Rock Show’ on Thursday, 9th July from 7pm BST / 2pm EDT / 11am PDT:
The month of July seemed to be an exceptionally good time for album releases in years gone by, and we’re gonna play you some of the very best. Classic cuts from Alice Cooper, Dio, David Lee Roth, Slayer, Megadeth, Pat Benatar, Helix, Quiet Riot, Faster Pussycat, Ratt, Great White, Ace Frehley, Y&T and Heart will no doubt help to bring back some memories of you running down to the local record store to pick up a copy.
“What about our requests?”, I hear you say. Of course, this show wouldn’t be the same without your contributions, so we’ll also be hearing from Blackberry Smoke, Cozy Powell, Iron Maiden, Stone Sour, Massive, Nickelback, the new one from Shinedown, Dire Straits, Faith No More, Gary Moore, Def Leppard and Loverboy.
New music will primarily come from the ‘Blues’ end of the music spectrum. The amazing Will Johns (appearing at The Criterion Theatre, Coventry on July 11th and The Wheatsheaf, Oxford on July 13th) has a new single out ‘Last Page’, and we’ll be playing that for you. Plus we’ll play something from the new album by Jared James Nichols, who’s tour support for Glenn Hughes in September, and also hear a track from the new King King album ‘Searching For The Light’. They’ll be back out on tour in October.
As you see, we’ve quite a mix for you…well, we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Atlanta rock ‘n’ roll punks BITERS have released their edgy new music video for the track “Restless Hearts”, which appears on their forthcoming debut album, ‘Electric Blood’.
Filmed with director Video Rahim (MASTODON) on location in their hometown, the video for “Restless Hearts” sees BITERS pushing the limits of rock ‘n’ roll excess with a wild keg party, cruising the streets of Atlanta in a stolen police cruiser, and frontman Tuk surfing on the boot of a car whilst tearing down the road at 50mph.
Watch the extreme, uncensored video for “Restless Hearts”:
UK fans should also keep an eye on Kerrang! TV to see the video running in the Fresh Blood segment from today onwards.
Director Video Rahim discusses the band’s run in with the law: “During the shoot, we mounted a camera to the front of a car to capture footage of Tuk and the band. They drove off with the camera and shortly thereafter I received a call from Tuk saying he had been pulled over and thought he was going to jail. I had to rush down and talk to the police officers to keep Tuk from being arrested.”
“Standing on the trunk of a ’70s Cadillac at 3am going 45-50mph and lip-synching while wearing Cuban heel boots was the best idea I’ve had in a long time,” adds BITERS frontman Tuk.

Having recently stormed Download with a secret set backed with a crowd of barbarians (and a 30 row strong crowd outside the tent!) The Darkness unleash a new single on 21st August. ‘Last of Our Kind’ is the title track of their recent 4th album which entered the UK charts at No. 12 on its release in June. The song has been described as ‘part Van Halen, part Waterboys, ALL The Darkness’. It features a record-smashing choir of several thousand Darkness enthusiasts (The Darkness Army) who each contributed their individual performances using the Internet service. The single, described by one reviewer as “(the track’s) effortlessly catchy hooks and righteous leads deliver pure rock perfection”, is a stomping rocker which demands hands be thrown in the air (when not playing air guitar on the excellent solo).
The album ‘Last of Our Kind’ has received some of the best reviews of the bands career to date with Classic Rock proclaiming it “A glorious return to form for the flamboyant rockers … they’ve only gone and made their finest album since Permission To Land” whilst Total Guitar said “Their very British blend of battle rock and classy ballads still hits the spot.”
The band have also announced a UK tour for November/December where they will entertain and astonish fans all over the country with their marvellous tunes and killer riffs. A few UK festival spots will also warm them up nicely.

Crazy Town have revealed the details for their upcoming new album, ‘The Brimstone Sluggers’, which is set for release on 28th August via Membran/The Orchard.
Produced by Bret ‘Epic’ Mazur, it is stylistically a follow up to the band’s platinum selling debut, ‘The Gift Of Game’, which included the massive hit single ‘Butterfly’. The new album features guest appearances by Tom Dumont of No Doubt, DJ AM, Madchild and Bishop Lamont.
Spearheaded by the duo of Seth ‘Shifty Shellshock’ Binzer and Bret ‘Epic’ Mazur, Crazy Town combine hip-hop’s lyrical attitude with the grooves of an alt-rock record. This combination yielded the group a number one hit in 2001, when ‘Butterfly’ topped the Billboard 100 and helped push the band’s debut album, ‘The Gift Of Game’, to platinum status and a main stage slot at Ozzfest. The group’s follow-up, ‘Dark Horse’, was released in 2002 and included the rock hit ‘Drowning’. Most recently, Crazy Town frontman Seth Brooks Binzer (aka Shifty Shellshock) has garnered widespread attention for his appearances on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab and Sober House reality shows.
The tracklisting for ‘The Brimstone Sluggers’ is as follows:
01 – Come Inside
02 – Light The Way
03 – Born To Raise Hell [feat. J Angel and DJ AM]
04 – Ashes [feat. Tom Dumont of No Doubt]
05 – Megatron
06 – Backpack [feat. Bishop Lamont]
07 – A Little More Time [feat. Koko Laroo]
08 – Keys [feat. Madchild]
09 – Lemonface
10 – Baby You Don’t Know
11 – My Place
12 – West Coast
13 – Megatron (Alternate Version)
Hailed by many as one of the best discoveries of 2015, The Picturebooks are a rock-blues-country-soaked duo consisting of Fynn Claus Grabke (vocals/guitar) and Philipp Mirtschink (drums). Based in Germany but signed to the American psych/stoner imprint Riding Easy, the boys are currently in the middle of their second US tour of 2015. They have also visited the UK twice already, wowing the crowds as support to The Answer on their April trek before returning a few weeks later to perform at The Great Escape festival plus a handful of headlining shows to promote the UK release of their new album, ‘Imaginary Horse’.
Following a slew of excellent press write-ups from publications as diverse as Artrocker, Blues Magazine, Classic Rock, Noisey and Trebuchet, plus radio support from stations such as Planet Rock (‘New Rock Show’) and Team Rock (‘Breaking Bands’ Record of the Week), the band have announced another string of UK dates in the early autumn. The ‘Imaginary Horse Tour 2015’ will initially visit a dozen towns plus an appearance at the Sound & Vision festival in Norwich. A further month of solid touring in mainland Europe will then be followed by a visit to Wales for shows in both the capital and another festival set at Hard Rock Hell IX.
Recorded in the same garage where the band refurbish and repair motorcycles and choppers (both are keen bikers), ‘Imaginary Horse’ captures a raw, rich and real energy befitting the room’s natural reverb, industrial aura and spiritual spark. More importantly, it has revved up their musical career.
