The ‘Request-Line’ is now OPEN!! What have you got for us this week? #classicrock

Less talk, more rock!!

Hello there. Hope you’re all having a good weekend.

It’s Sunday, late afternoon, and we’ve just opened up the ‘Request-Line’; so what have you got for us this week?

I’ve been busying myself listening to a lot of albums and already penciled one or two choice tunes, which I really hope you’ll enjoy hearing…maybe for the very first time! 😉

We’ll be closing the ‘Request-Line’ at 9pm GMT on Tuesday. Showtime, as usual, is at 7pm GMT on Thursday night!

NEWS: Due to the Severe Flood Warning in our area, tonight’s Bex Rocks show w/ @chili_bex has been cancelled.

Flood Alerts 5-12-2013

It’s with regret that Bex has had to pull out of tonight’s show. The local residents along the seafront in Felixstowe have been told to evacuate and the nearby homes are also at high risk of flooding. Hence why the show has been cancelled; Bex will be kept rather busy this evening.

A ‘Severe Flood Warning’ was issued earlier and we can only hope that should flooding occur, it is kept to an absolute minimum. Of course, it goes without saying that safety and the securing of property to upper floors, wherever possible, is of primary importance. 

You can still keep entertained by posting on our Facebook Group while still listening to Big Rock 247. You’ve done it before and I’m sure you’ll do it all again! 🙂

In the meantime, you keep on a rockin’ and we’ll see you all again next week safe and sound.

Imagine life without rock ‘n’ roll? Imagine Thursday’s without The Classic Rock Show? No, I can’t either! #Thanksgiving

Hello everyone.

Thursday has come around again. Thank goodness for that!! 

Gotta also thank all those of you who have contributed song requests towards this week’s playlist. The Classic Rock Show is built around what you want to hear. That’s the way you like it, that’s the way we like it and that’s the way it’s gonna stay. You okay with that? 😉

On the show this evening, we’ve got Judas Priest, Diamond Head, Whitesnake, Hawkwind, Rainbow, Lone Star, Kiss, Little Angels, Magnum, Tool and a request to play something off the new Cold Cold Ground album (which, I might add, is really rather bloody good). Plus a whole heap of other prime cuts.

Tune in this evening from 7pm (GMT) to hear some of the very best rock ‘n’ roll produced from years gone by, right up to the present day. We’ve just closed the ‘Request-Line’ for this week and what do we find? Some absolute gems, as we’ve come to expect.

Amongst all these, we’ll also hear from Faster Pussycat, Electric Light Orchestra, Golden Earring, Scorpions, Rainbow, Status Quo, Starz, Robin Trower, Damn Yankees, along with the Black Spiders, Huntress and Lamb Of God, so it’ll be just a bit LOUD in places 😉

It’s our 4th Anniversary!! Tune in to the show tonight from 7pm!! #ClassicRock

Hello there

Just warming up the studio in readiness for tonight’s 4th Anniversary show.

We’ve got a lot to get through. I’m also joined in the studio by two close friends of The Classic Rock Show – Bex (from Bex Rocks) and Dawn (from Friday Rock Night on Felixstowe Radio). I will obviously have to behave myself!! 😉

We’ll hear two tracks each from Saxon, Whitesnake, Rainbow and AC/DC! We’ve also got some killer tuneage from Cinderella, Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, Foghat, Cheap Trick, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Clutch, The Dead Daisies, Blackfoot, REO Speedwagon, Boston, Iron Maiden, McCoy, Epysode, Nocturna, Rob Zombie, Demon, Terrorvision, Buckcherry, Danger Danger, Damn Yankees, and a whole load more.

If that’s not enough, we’ll be announcing the lucky winner of the Mott The Hoople competition we’ve been running all this week to win a pair of VIP tickets to their London show at the O2.

Thanks to our good friends John McCoy, Angel Air Records and AEG Live, we have a pair of VIP tickets for Mott The Hoople’s London O2 Arena show on the 18th November 2013!!

The band reformed recently and they’ve just set off on a five-date tour of the UK and you can see them conclude this tour at London’s O2. The shows will feature original members Verden Allen (keyboards/vocals), Ian Hunter (vocals/guitar/piano), Mick Ralphs (guitar/vocals) and Overend Watts (bass/vocals). Due to ill health, original drummer Dale Griffin will be substituted by Martin Chambers (The Pretenders). The London show will see Thunder and Fish join them as Special Guests.
