NEWS: ‘Back To The 80s’ Part 2 – Classic Rock from 1981!

Since we announced the ‘Back To The 80s’ series of shows some months ago, we’ve attracted a number of enquiries about what songs we’ll be playing. Not only that, but we’ve received some fantastic suggestions about what to play.

1980

What can we tell you about this Thursday’s show [Facebook event link here]? Well, hang on to your band patch and stud-adorned denim waistcoat, ‘cos here’s a little taster!

Thin Lizzy, Samson, Iron Maiden, Gillan, Michael Schenker, Rolling Stones, Tygers Of Pan Tang, The Rods, Trust, Rose Tattoo, Budgie, Graham Bonnet, Girlschool, Black Sabbath, Demon, Venom, Praying Mantis, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, Van Halen, More, Slade, Blue Oyster Cult, Whitesnake, AC/DC….

And so the list goes on!

We’ll do our level best to ensure that what’s played will satisfy your thirst for reliving those memories of yesteryear. Remember ‘Monsters Of Rock’ returning to Castle Donnington…a rather wet Donny!?

‘Kinda Wish She Would’ is the new single from Bernie Marsden

Hello everyone.

Some of you will know that Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake, Alaska, Babe Ruth, Ashton Paice Lord, The Moody Marsden Band) is to release a studio album called ‘Shine’ on August 18th 2014. Well, I’ve just heard in full one of the tracks from the new album and it sounds terrific!

Kinda Wish She Would‘ is the sublime new single from one of the world’s most celebrated blues/rock guitarists. A renowned songwriter, Marsden has written and recorded with some of the genre’s greats, including Robert Planet, Joe Bonamassa, Ringo Starr and Paul Weller to name a few, and has written many global rock anthems, including Whitesnake’s ‘Here I Go Again’.

You can hear part of the song on this album trailer video:

Marsden has put his name to over 100 albums throughout his illustrious career with various bands including Whitesnake and UFO and guesting on other projects with the likes of Alaska, Cozy Powell, Walter Trout, Jon Lord and Ian Paice

Shine was recorded with Rob Cass at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Marsden recruited some of his close friends and peers to the recording process including the likes of Joe Bonamassa, David Coverdale and Deep Purple duo Ian Paice (drums) and Don Airey (keyboards).

Bernie will tour the UK as follows with many more dates to be added:

July 20th – Steelhouse Festival, South Wales, UK
Oct 22nd- Jazz Café, London, UK
Oct 23rd – The Brook, Southampton, UK
Oct 24th – The Stables, Wavendon, UK

Imagine life without rock ‘n’ roll? Imagine Thursday’s without The Classic Rock Show? No, I can’t either! #Thanksgiving

Twitter profile pic copy

Hello everyone.

Thursday has come around again. Thank goodness for that!!

Gotta also thank all those of you who have contributed song requests towards this week’s playlist. The Classic Rock Show is built around what you want to hear. That’s the way you like it, that’s the way we like it and that’s the way it’s gonna stay. You okay with that? 😉

On the show this evening, we’ve got Judas Priest, Diamond Head, Whitesnake, Hawkwind, Rainbow, Lone Star, Kiss, Little Angels, Magnum, Tool and a request to play something off the new Cold Cold Ground album (which, I might add, is really rather bloody good). Plus a whole heap of other prime cuts.

Tune in this evening from 7pm (GMT) to hear some of the very best rock ‘n’ roll produced from years gone by, right up to the present day. And if you fancy having a chat online with all the other listeners and yours truly during the show, then get yourself across to our Facebook Group. Plenty of good laughs and banter to be had. I’m looking forward to it.

See you later.

Cheers!
