For those of us who have been to see The Treatment on their ‘Second Bite’ tour, you would have also seen the two support bands, Buffalo Summer and Massive, fill the venues with their own unique brand of rock.
Buffalo Summer, who have not long been out of the recording studio (their second album is down and waiting to be mixed), have been hard at it since I last saw them on the Lords Of The Riff tour. Tours and support for Skid Row and Buckcherry have been amongst the highlights for the band in 2014.
We caught up with Andrew Hunt (Lead Vocal) at The Waterfront Studio in Norwich to discuss what the band’s been up to, how the current tour has been going with The Treatment and Aussie rockers Massive.
Of course, we had to ask Andrew about the #PastySmash! The Facebook video can be viewed here.
If there was ever a band that mixed youthful exuberance with kiss-ass rock ‘n’ roll riffage, then The Treatment have certainly nailed it. With two albums well and truly under their belts, numerous tours, including big name support slots such as Aerosmith, Kiss, Thin Lizzy, Steel Panther, Alice Cooper and Motley Crue, they’ve watched, listened and learned from the very best…and boy, have they picked up on it all!
The ‘Second Bite’ tour – promoting their stunning 2014 ‘Running With The Dogs’ album – is now drawing to a close. It’s been a tour which has seen this young band draw upon all their experiences; delivering unquestionably their most polished performances to date.
We sat down with Matt Jones (vocals) and Dhani Mansworth (drums) backstage at The Waterfront Studios in Norwich and talked about the album, their new ‘look’ and their latest video release ‘The Outlaw’.
You can listen to our interview here:
The Treatment’s ‘Second Bite’ tour continues tonight (Monday, 20th October) at The Joiners in Southampton, Tuesday, 21st October at Exeter’s Cavern and on Thursday, 23rd October on Brighton’s seafront at the Audio.
To get what you want to hear played on Thursday night’s show, you’ve only got to ask. Our mantra is very simple: If we’ve got it, we’ll play it. Check out what we rocked out to on last week’s show…it was an absolute blast!
As well as playing your requests, we’ll be announcing the winner of our ‘Massive’ Competition which is running at the moment. Be in with a chance of winning a copy of their album ‘Full Throttle’. Get on it! – entry details here.
The ‘Request-line’ will close at Midnight, Monday 14th July.
With thanks to the guys in the band Massive and our friends at Earache Records, we’re giving you a chance to win a CD of Massive’s debut album ‘Full Throttle’ which has been revamped with four new recordings and is out July 21st.
‘Full Throttle’ is a breakneck all killer, no filler record which is brimming with attitude. Tracks like “One By One” fuse aggressive and anthemic choruses with fun-filled solos whilst the bass-heavy, testosterone-soaked “Dancefloor” is more sweaty circle pit than glitzy ballroom. The menace and grit of the band comes out in tracks like “Big Trend Setter”, which is an egotistical explosion of pure rock ‘n’ roll arrogance. “Now or Never” is a white-knuckle joyride with enough G-force to make your head spin, and the middle-finger-to-the-man numbers like “Hollywood” will whip up any crowd into an anarchic frenzy.
Musically, the band keep it simple and direct, with high-energy tunes set around infectious, rabble-rousing choruses that bring out the rabid rock ‘n’ rollers in the most sterile of crowds.
Massive have already been featured on the front of Classic Rock Magazine and they recently stepped into the studio to record 4 more songs to add to “Full Throttle”, including two new tunes and covers of AC/DC’s “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” and Aerosmith’s “Rats in the Cellar”.
The band have also confirmed their first visit to Europe, beginning with a slot at the Hard Rock Hell festival in November. We’ve also heard that Massive will be looking to play a few additional gigs around the UK while they’re over.
Enter the competition by answering a simple question about Massive’s new album and if you’re correct, you could be in with a chance of winning a copy of ‘Full Throttle’!
Only entries submitted through this form will be accepted:-
The competition will close on Thursday, July 17th, 9pm (UK time): The lucky winner will be announced shortly after the competition closes, live ‘on-air’, during next week’s show. Sorry, but this competition is open to UK residents only.
Another week flies by and here we are once again…just a few hours away from showtime.
On tonight’s show, we’ve got all your requests to play, plus a few tracks from bands who released albums this week back in the day, and we’ll see if we can fit in one or two songs which feature artists who would be celebrating their birthdays.
We’re following last week’s Black Stone Cherry competition with another; one which features Aussie band Massive, and a chance to win a CD of their debut album ‘Full Throttle’ (out July 21st on Earache Records), revamped with four new recordings. The competition will open at 8pm tonight – look out for more details on that later on.
All this and much, much more besides, including something from the new Judas Priest album ‘Redeemer Of Souls’, Deep Purple, Night Ranger, David Lee Roth, Night Ranger, Faster Pussycat, Megadeth, W.A.S.P., Saxon, Quiet Riot, Bon Jovi, Status Quo, Budgie, Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Guns N’ Roses, Killswitch Engage, Kingdom Come…phew!
Hi-octane rockers Massive stake their claim for greatness with their debut album “Full Throttle”.
Displaying a work ethic worthy of any of their Aussie compatriots, Massive think nothing of regularly traveling a thousand miles across Australia for a single show, and often return home battered and bruised. Their war stories are littered with live shows abruptly pulled by frightened security, or venues cutting the power mid-set. A self-funded trip to tour the West Coast of America involved avoiding arrest for bringing back most of the crowd from one of the shows to their hotel for an after-hours party.

This coming Thursday on The Classic Rock Show, we’ll have a little bit of this, that and the other.
What do we mean by that? Classic Rock, Glam Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, NWOBHM, Prog Rock, Southern Rock, Blues Rock, a little stick of Blackpool rock (we’re joking). How does that sound to you?
Oh yes…and we’ll have your requests to play too. The ‘Request-line’ opens at Midday today – look out for it!
