Dream Theater announce the release of ‘Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live from the Boston Opera House)’

Dream Theater have announced the release of ‘Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live from the Boston Opera House)’, a live Blu-Ray / DVD set of the band’s one-of-a-kind performance from the Boston Opera House on March 25, 2014.  Produced by the band’s John Petrucci, filmed and directed by Pierre and François Lamoureux, and mixed and mastered by Richard Chycki, this special release is over 2 hours in length, and includes guest performances from The Berklee College of Music Orchestra and Choir. ‘Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live from the Boston Opera House)’ arrives September 29th.

1.-Dream-Theater1The collection will be available in multiple configurations including Blu-Ray, a 2 DVD set, and a webstore exclusive deluxe Blu-Ray/3 CD set with poster, all currently available for pre-order via the Roadrunner Records webstore.  Furthermore, Dream Theater have premiered a video of “The Looking Glass” (Live) taken from ‘Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live from the Boston Opera House)’ which can be watched on the band’s official YouTube Channel.  All pre-orders for the webstore exclusive will receive an instant download of “The Looking Glass” (Live).

Dream Theater’s John Petrucci commented on the special event saying, “In many ways, this was a huge homecoming for the band given the history of Dream Theater’s origins and ties with Berklee. With John and I both being alumni and Mike having been a professor at the college for 10 years, we saw the opportunity to perform together with the students of Berklee as a tremendous thrill and honor. We are extremely grateful for everyone’s hard work in making this special event a reality and to all who participated.”  He continued, “All of the Berklee College instrumentalists and vocalists did an outstanding job that night and it was awesome to have one of its students, Eren Başbuğ, orchestrate and conduct them live at the Opera House after having been a part of our latest studio release in the same capacity. Dream Theater has always had a great connection to the city of Boston and we knew that against the backdrop of the beautiful Opera House, this would end up being a historic stop on our ‘Along For The Ride’ world tour and an evening most definitely worth capturing on video.  Beautifully filmed and directed by Pierre Lamoureux and brilliantly mixed and mastered by Richard Chycki, this is in my opinion, a major highlight in our nearly 30 year career as a band. We are eagerly anticipating its release and really hope that everyone enjoys it!”

Vinnie Paul of Hellyeah talks about Blood For Blood and album producer Kevin Churko, the new line-up and his infamous hats!

Having seen them totally decimate The Underworld last year, I was keen to see how Hellyeah’s new line-up was performing on the back of their ‘Blood For Blood’ release.

Friends and colleagues who saw Hellyeah at Bloodstock and on a number of dates on this tour had already told me that they were sounding better than ever.

10543596_10204135579896955_6514619416179427378_oGreg Tribbett and Bob Zilla have been replaced by Christian Brady (formerly with Magna-Fi) and Kyle Sanders (formerly with Bloodsimple and is the brother of Mastodon’s Troy Sanders) on guitar and bass respectively. These two exponents of their craft have brought with them another level of energy, positivity and musical focus to Hellyeah’s ‘live’ performances. It’s also noticeable that Chad Gray has more than decent enough backing for his vocals as a consequence of Christian and Kyle’s abilities.

We caught up with Vinnie Paul before they took to the stage and asked him about ‘Blood For Blood’, working with album producer Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, In This Moment, Hinder, Five Finger Death Punch) how the tour was going, but I began our chat by asking him about the infamous hats he sports from time to time.

Thanks for listening. Come and join us on a Thursday night by tuning into ‘The Classic Rock Show’!

John Garcia talks to ‘The Classic Rock Show’: “This is a straight rock ‘n’ roll record”

After something like 10 years or so of rumours and conjecture, “will he, won’t he”, John Garcia’s debut solo album is finally out and available worldwide through Napalm Records. It’s a masterpiece by the most distinctive voice of the entire Desert & Stoner Rock scene!

This record is full of first-class, catchy rock numbers that commute equally between Classic Rock and concise Stoner elements. John Garcia has delivered a multi-faceted and extremely intense solo album that will stir up more dust than a sandstorm in the Californian desert. Robby Krieger (The Doors), Danko Jones, Tom Brayton, Mark Diamond and also Garcia‘s old cohort in Kyuss Nick Oliveri show up as guest musicians to round out John‘s solo masterpiece.

John spoke to us recently from his Palm Springs home. We covered a good amount of ground; from what he’s been listening to music-wise, to how much he and his fellow musicians have put into this project and the experience of working with The Doors’ guitarist, Robby Krieger.

“I’m a fan of Rock Music” he says. “This is not a Country Record. This is not an underwater Polka record. This is a straight Rock ‘n’ Roll record.” He went on to add, “Hey man, if you like anything by Judas Priest, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath to Led Zeppelin, you just may like some of the stuff that I’m doing!”

Those of us who have followed John’s music career over the past 25 years or so, will immediately hear that he totally commands his vocal performances on the album – personally speaking, I don’t think he’s sounded better. Of this he says, “My voice has gotten better with age. I’m learning how to control it more.”

You can listen to the interview here:

But it doesn’t just end there. To celebrate his new release, John Garcia will hit the stages for an extense European tour (including four UK dates in early December), not only presenting his solo record live, but also playing past and present: From legendary Kyuss songs off Sky Valley, Blues for the Red Sun, …And The Circus Leaves Town – including some rarities even Kyuss never played live – to Slo Burn, this tour will be a highlight and resumé of legendary tunes, that John Garcia has created in his career. John will be hitting the road with the following, fantastic musicians on stage:

Ehren Groban – Guitar ( War Drum ), Mike Pygmie – Bass ( You Know Who ), Greg Saenz – Drums ( You Know Who, The Dwarves ).

So there you have it. John Garcia’s debut solo album is out now. I’ve been listening to this album constantly for the past three weeks and it was the first CD to get loaded into my new car’s stereo system, which I took delivery of today!
