It’s the first Thursday of the month and I’m back behind the mic to give it some.
I’ve been busy collating your requests. We’re going down the new music/bands route for this show, playing some hard rockin’ louuuuud tunes! You might have new neighbours, so it’ll be nice for them to get to know you through what music you listen too 😉 Lol
Great reaction to the show last night. Thanks to you all for tuning in.
Here’s the playlist. Plenty of tracks requested by you, so as ever, we play what you want to hear. Our motto is “If we’ve got it, we’ll play it!”
Do keep spreading the word. We’re attracting more and more listeners each week, so we must be doing something right.
If you’ve not done so already, make sure you check out the interviews we’ve done recently. Rocket Scientists’ keyboardist Erik Norlander, Joe Retta and Stuart Smith from Heaven & Earth are just two of the most recent one’s. Click here to view the full list.
The interview with BlackWolf will be posted soon. More interviews are in the pipeline, so keep checking back here from time to time.
Bex is back behind the mic on Thursday, April 3rd at 7pm with ‘Bex Rocks’, so expect to hear some serious riffage!
Have a great weekend. I’ll see you in two weeks time.
It’s been six long years since we heard anything from the Rocket Scientists’ launch control and some 21 years since the first of four studio albums to date – ‘Earthbound’. The release on March 20 of their stellar EP ‘Supernatural Highways’ is a forerunner to a full album promised later this year.
The EP contains just two instrumental tracks; an epic 26min 20sec opus “Traveler on the Supernatural Highways” and a “hot-rodded” version of the John Barry composed movie theme to James Bond’s “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” – a mere 4min 17sec in length.
‘The Classic Rock Show’ asked founding member and keyboardist Erik Norlander (also of prog rock groups The Galactic Collective and Asia ft. John Payne) to explain the wait and to also take us through the EP’s journey.
Those familiar with the Rocket Scientists work over the years will delight in hearing that the two other founding members, guitarist Mark McCrite and NS/Stick player Don Schiff, return to the camp. Joining Erik, Mark and Don are a veritable ‘who’s-who’ of special guests that include a “welcome back” to the fold from drummer Gregg Bissonette, percussionist Greg Ellis and Lana Lane (vocal pads). Jon Pappenbrook (trumpet) and Eric Jorgensen (trombone) make a not insignificant contribution by playing on the ‘OHMSS’ track.
On listening to the EP, you certainly get the feeling that this group of hugely talented musicians have not only given their all in the studio, but have also had a lot of fun in doing so.
Following the 2013 release of the superb album ‘Dig’, we’ve all been hankering after seeing Heaven & Earth over here in the UK. Well, it’s not too long to wait now as the band recently announced tour dates.
The band’s guitarist Stuart Smith & vocalist Joe Retta talked to The Classic Rock Show about the album, artwork, vinyl, Richie Sambora‘s contribution on the song ‘Man and Machine’, as well as the upcoming tour which has preliminary dates for the O2 Academy‘s around the UK.
We’re really excited by the prospect of seeing them perform ‘live’ over here in the UK and can’t wait to see a show.
Since we began playing Heaven & Earth on the show, and especially since the release of ‘Dig’, we’ve received more and more requests to hear them. This is a band that’s struck a chord with fans of ‘Classic Rock’ sounding music the world over.
Join us from 7pm (UK time) this Thursday, March 27 – we’ll be playing another track from Heaven & Earth’s album ‘Dig’ as requested by one of our listeners!
Tonight, from 7pm, we’ll be playing some of those kick-ass requests that you’ve sent in on the ‘Request-line’. Plus, a heck of a lot more besides. Including – Gillan, Alice Cooper, Taj Mahal, Walter Trout, Steppenwolf, Whitesnake, Monster Truck, Scorpion Child, Buffalo Summer, Spiral Dive, Velvet Revolver, Slam Cartel, Frank Marino, and the new single from Swedish metallers Sarea.
Aryn Jonathan Black of Scorpion Child talked to ‘The Classic Rock Show’ just before their gig at The Colchester Arts Centre on March 18th 2014. The new line-up and The Lords Of The Riff tour are some of the topics covered.
